In addition to our daily services, the Devereux Center now offers a Warming Center to the homeless population in our area. On nights when certain conditions are met, a downstairs area is opened from 6 pm to 8 am. People are invited to come in from the weather, have hot food and drinks, and be safe. The space has a number of comfortable sofas, loveseats, and chairs, as well as cubbies for belongings. A large screen TV is available for those who wish to watch a movie, while games and books are also available. The Warming Center is run entirely by the Devereux Center’s staff and volunteers; food, drinks, and other supplies are donated by the community.
The Warming Center is open at the discretion of the Director and the City of Coos Bay. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for announcements that the Warming Center is opening.
