In addition to our daily services, the Devereux Center now offers a Warming Center to the homeless population in our area. On nights when certain conditions are met, a downstairs area is opened from 6 pm to 8 am. People are invited to come in from the weather, have hot food and drinks, and be safe. The space has a number of comfortable sofas, loveseats, and chairs, as well as cubbies for belongings. A large screen TV is available for those who wish to watch a movie, while games and books are also available. The Warming Center is run entirely by the Devereux Center’s staff and volunteers; food, drinks, and other supplies are donated by the community.
The Warming Center opens when temperatures are 36° or lower, or winds are 40 mph or greater. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for announcements that the Warming Center is opening.
